97's Place third in Montreal Warrior Meltdown
It used to be called the Mission Cup but regardless of the name this tournament is widely considered the premier tournament in the Province of Quebec. The 97's have been gaining momentum with a strong performance in Boston by making it to the cross over games on the strength of a 3-1-0 record during the Spring Fling in Marlboro Ma.
So expectations were high heading to Montreal to test thier metal against the best Eastern Canada has to offer. The first game was a tight affair against the Blizzard Lac St. Jean and saw them skate to a 1-1 tie. The next three games were wins versus the Ottawa Riots (2-0), the Montreal Jr. Lions (4-0) and finally the Toronto based Pro-Hockey Development (3-1). Tristan Meadows played exceptional all weekend picking up two shutouts and making some hugh saves in al the games.
The team got to bed early to play the Quebec City Bulldogs but it was not to be losing to the Bulldogs 6-3 who would go on to win the tournament.
The 97 Prospects have a weekend off this week but head back to Montreal for the Festival National on June 8th to 10th.
